Governor Edward G. Rendell believes that every Pennsylvanian deserves access to affordable, quality health care. To help make that possible, he created the Governor’s Office of Health Care Reform. GOHCR has worked on issues ranging from medical malpractice and Governor Rendell’s abatement program for physicians and nurse midwives, to a Community Health Reinvestment program with the state’s Blue Cross/Shield plans, to revamping the way Pennsylvania delivers long term living services. Its most important project is Governor Rendell’s bold “Prescription for Pennsylvania” - a set of integrated practical strategies for improving health care and containing costs for all Pennsylvanians. The core components are affordability, accessibility and quality. The Pennsylvania Health Information Exchange (PHIX) Strategic Plan has been submitted to the Office of National Coordinator for approval. To view the plan as submitted for approval click here.
